Works | New York City, 2017

In 2017, I rented a small studio in West Village,New York City, and created this body of works. I was deeply mesmerised by the crispy winter light and the people on the street, particularly the shadows on their faces. The city's fast-paced life also inspired me to write texts on my works, imagining a fictional dialogue between my subjects. I have never grown up with comic books, but I guess, in a hindsight, the streets, people, and chaos and many of the hidden narratives in the city, did stir up quite a bit of creative response within me, that are rather comic, than philosophical.
